  • Mavericks Hold Off Warriors in Offensive Showcase, 137–131

The Dallas Mavericks suffered their second consecutive overtime loss at home on Monday night, falling 137–131 to the Golden State Warriors in a game that was as thrilling as it was frustrating. Moses Moody led Golden State with 23 points before exiting late with a serious-looking knee injury, while rookie standout Cooper Flagg poured in a game-high 32 points for Dallas but committed seven turnovers.

The first quarter set the tone for a shootout. Both teams came out firing from deep—Dallas hit eight of its first ten three-pointers, while Golden State connected on eight of thirteen. After trading runs, the Warriors held a slim 34–31 lead after one.

Dallas seized control in the second quarter, capitalizing on Golden State’s sloppy ball movement to build a 15-point cushion. The Mavericks’ offense hummed behind Flagg’s scoring and crisp passing, and they carried a 73–63 advantage into halftime.

Momentum flipped in the third. The Warriors tightened up defensively and forced Dallas into a string of turnovers, erasing the lead with a 20–9 run to tie the game at 98 heading into the fourth.

Flagg’s rough start to the final quarter nearly doomed the Mavericks—three straight turnovers led to an 11-point Golden State burst. But Dallas clawed back behind timely plays from Kristaps Porziņģis and Max Christie. Christie’s clutch three-pointer tied the game at 126, sending it to overtime after both teams missed chances to win in regulation.

In the extra period, the Warriors jumped ahead quickly and never looked back. Dallas showed fight but couldn’t overcome fatigue or Golden State’s sharper execution. The night ended on a somber note when Moody went down awkwardly after a steal, appearing to suffer a serious knee injury.

Flagg’s Next Step: Trust the Three
Flagg’s confidence from beyond the arc remains a work in progress. Though he shot 2-for-4 from deep, he passed up several open looks. Defenders are daring him to shoot, and he’ll need to take those opportunities more often to stretch defenses and open up his driving lanes.

    Turnovers Tell the Story
The game was a chaotic mix of brilliance and blunders—47 combined turnovers leading to 59 points off giveaways. It made for entertaining basketball, but neither team will be proud of the sloppiness.

    Wishing Moody a Speedy Recovery
Moody’s injury cast a shadow over an otherwise electric night. The scene was difficult to watch, and the hope around the league is that his recovery is swift and complete.
