  • Minecraft World to Open at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027

Minecraft is stepping out of the digital realm and into real life. Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced plans for Minecraft World, the first fully immersive theme park land based on the globally beloved video game.

Set to open in 2027 at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London, the £50 million project will transform the game’s pixelated universe into a physical playground. Visitors can expect to explore environments inspired by Minecraft’s most recognizable biomes, creatures, and tools—bringing the creativity and adventure of the game to life on a grand scale.

The new land will include a record-breaking roller coaster, interactive experiences, large-scale block-built play areas, and themed shops and restaurants. Every detail is being designed to capture the spirit of Minecraft, from its signature blocky aesthetic to its sense of exploration and discovery.

Merlin and Mojang have collaborated closely to ensure authenticity, even enlisting well-known Minecraft creators to help shape the experience. The result aims to be a destination that feels true to the game’s community while offering something entirely new for fans of all ages.

When it opens, Minecraft World will mark a major milestone for both the franchise and Chessington—uniting one of the world’s most popular games with one of the UK’s most iconic theme parks.
